New Delhi, 13 August (H.S.): South Delhi Superstarz produced a dominant performance in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 on Wednesday, defeating East Delhi Riders by nine wickets. Following the emphatic victory, South Delhi captain Ayush Badoni praised his team’s positive mindset and ability to recover strongly after setbacks.

Badoni said after the match, “It was a very good win for us. We had lost our first two matches, but the atmosphere within the team remained positive throughout. The best thing about our team is that we always stay positive and know how to bounce back. We showed that today.”

He also praised the opening partnership that laid the foundation for the successful chase.

“The opening pair provided us with a great platform. Both Sanat and Anmol batted really well and lived up to the expectations placed on them,” Badoni said.

Badoni’s aggressive approach changed the momentum

Reflecting on his attacking innings, Badoni said the pitch offered good conditions for batting and, with South Delhi possessing a long batting line-up, he decided to accelerate the scoring rate.

“When I came in to bat, I felt that the pitch was good for batting. We have a long batting line-up, so I thought of increasing the scoring rate,” he said.

Badoni subsequently changed the complexion of the contest by smashing three consecutive sixes during his innings, putting South Delhi firmly in control.

Praising South Delhi pacer Anshuman Hooda, Badoni said, “Anshuman has been a very attacking bowler for us. He picks up wickets at crucial moments, and I am happy that he is part of our team. I believe he has a great chance of winning the Purple Cap. I wish him all the best.”

Hooda takes four wickets as East Delhi post 191

Batting first, East Delhi Riders posted 191 for six in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Vansh Mehra scored 27 off 16 balls and helped provide the team with a positive start alongside Arpit Rana.

However, a succession of wickets in the middle overs reduced East Delhi to 102 for four. Sujal Singh then steadied the innings with an unbeaten 63 off 39 balls.

Sujal shared a 58-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Suryansh Raina, helping East Delhi push their total close to the 190-run mark. For South Delhi, Anshuman Hooda was the standout bowler, claiming four wickets for 34 runs in his four overs.

Sanat and Anmol lay strong foundation for chase

Chasing 192, South Delhi Superstarz made an outstanding start. Sanat Sangwan and Anmol Sharma put together a 113-run opening partnership in just 11 overs.

Sanat scored 57 off 33 balls before being dismissed. Badoni then took charge and immediately adopted an aggressive approach.

Badoni and Anmol continued the assault and guided South Delhi to the target with more than three overs to spare, securing a comprehensive nine-wicket victory.
