Guwahati, 13 August (HS): Continuing its crackdown on illegal drugs, Garachuk Police seized a large consignment of narcotics at Boragaon in Guwahati following a tip-off.

Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted a truck bearing registration number AS01 VC 1396 and recovered around 15 packets of WY tablets and eight packets of heroin.

According to police, the drugs were being transported from Imphal to Guwahati. The total value of the seized contraband is estimated at around ₹39 crore.

Two alleged drug traffickers have been arrested in connection with the seizure. They have been identified as Abdul Kadir and Shariful Islam, both from Goalpara district.

Police have launched further investigation to trace the wider network involved in the drug trafficking operation.-----------
