13 Aug (HS): Former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and President of the Shiromany

Akalid Dal (Badal) Sukhbir Singh Badal was attached by a sharp weapon at

historical Gurudwara Mata Sahit, Nanded o Thursday. Badal survived the attack,

but received injuries on hand and has been immediately rushed to a private

hospital. Badal had gone to the Gurudwara along with his family.

Badal was

attacked as he alighted from his vehicle and was proceeding towards the

Gurdwara, when an unknown person attacked him. Badal’s security personnel

immediately control the situation and overpowered the attacker. The motto

behind the attack, however, was not ascertained. The attacker was handed over

to the local police, who are investigating further.

The

security was beefed up around the Gurudwara following the attack.

Earlier

on 4 December 2024 Badal was attacked in front of Shri Haminder Sahit in

Amritsar. He had gone to the place to deliver service as the punishment was ordered

by the Akal Takht. Badal was at the gate as a security guard on a wheel chair,

when Narayan Singh Choura tried to shoot him with a bullet. Badal survived as

the security guards held the attacker.

Enquiry: Maharashtra

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis condemned the attack and announced enquiry

into the attack in Nanded. He informed the media that the condition of Badal is

stable.

One his

security persons and a police personnel were injured in the incident.
