
Tamulpur (Assam), 12 August (HS): The foundation stone for the district headquarters building of the Industries and Commerce Department was laid near Tamulpur Durga Mandir on Wednesday. BTC Executive Member for Industries and Commerce, Moon Moon Brahma, laid the foundation stone in the presence of BTC Executive Member Maheswar Basumatary and former MLA Emmanuel Mushahary.
Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony, Brahma said Tamulpur is a district with immense potential and there is considerable scope for development. She expressed hope that the department would undertake meaningful initiatives for the district.
The proposed two-storey office building will be constructed at an estimated cost of around ₹1.5 crore, with ₹70 lakh allocated at the initial stage. The new office is expected to streamline the functioning of the Industries and Commerce Department in Tamulpur and play an important role in supporting local entrepreneurs.
Brahma also advocated holding training programmes of the Industries and Commerce Department at the training centre of the Handloom Cooperative Society located near the foundation-laying site. She said she had already received verbal consent from the BTC Executive Member of the Handloom and Textiles Department and expressed hope that the written NOC would be issued soon.
Officials and employees of the Industries and Commerce Department, party leaders and workers, and several other people attended the programme, District Information and Public Relations Officer Bijoy Bezbaruah said.-----------
