New Delhi, 12 August (H.S.): The Delhi High Court is set to order the removal of objectionable online content targeting film actress Khushi Kapoor. The court has sought a list of URLs carrying the allegedly objectionable material before passing appropriate directions.

A bench headed by Justice Jyoti Singh passed the direction on Wednesday while hearing a petition filed by Khushi Kapoor seeking protection against objectionable content circulating online.

During the hearing, Kapoor’s counsel, Asav Rajan, submitted that the petitioner is a Hindi film actress and a fashion icon. The court asked her counsel to provide a respondent-wise list of the URLs concerned. Rajan subsequently submitted the list before the court.

Counsel appearing for Meta, however, pointed out that several of the URLs listed were associated with fan pages and were not fake or impersonating accounts.

The court is examining the petition in the context of Kapoor’s request for protection against allegedly objectionable online material and the removal of content from digital platforms.

The Delhi High Court has previously passed orders protecting the personality and publicity rights of several prominent public figures. Such cases have involved film personalities, sportspersons, politicians, journalists and other public figures, including actresses Janhvi Kapoor, Tabu, Sonakshi Sinha and Kajol; cricketers Yuvraj Singh, Abhishek Sharma and Sunil Gavaskar; actors Arjun Kapoor, Allu Arjun, Mohanlal, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Vivek Oberoi; filmmaker Karan Johar; actor and politician Ravi Kishan; Congress leader Shashi Tharoor; Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan; journalist Sudhir Chaudhary; and spiritual figures such as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Acharya Balkrishna and Baba Ramdev.

The court’s consideration of Kapoor’s plea comes amid growing legal scrutiny of the unauthorised use and circulation of content involving public figures on social media and other online platforms.
