Chandigarh, 06 July (H.S.): Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal has filed an application before the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Harinder Sidhu in Chandigarh, seeking permission to travel abroad. The application has been filed in connection with the case titled State of Punjab versus Parkash Singh Badal.

According to the documents, Sukhbir Singh Badal has sought permission to travel abroad from July 7, 2026, to July 11, 2026. The application states that the matter is pending before the court and the next hearing is scheduled for July 17, 2026.

Badal has stated in the application that he needs to travel abroad before the next date of hearing due to a personal engagement and commitment with his immediate family. It has also been submitted that he will return before the next hearing.

As per the documents, the case is related to an FIR registered on August 7, 2018, at Police Station City Kotkapura. The case was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.

The application further states that Sukhbir Singh Badal is a Z-plus protectee and faces a threat to his life from terrorist organisations. Due to security reasons, his complete travel itinerary has not been disclosed in the application. However, the itinerary is being placed before the court in a sealed envelope.

The application also mentions that Badal was earlier granted permission by the court to travel abroad on previous occasions. As per the documents, he was allowed to travel from July 20 to July 30, 2023, from April 27 to May 15, 2025, and from April 22 to May 5, 2026. The application claims that he complied with all the conditions imposed in the earlier orders and never misused the concession of pre-arrest bail or violated any terms.

In his affidavit, Sukhbir Singh Badal has stated that the application has been drafted under his instructions and that the contents are true and correct. The court will now decide whether to grant him permission to travel abroad from July 7 to July 11.
