
Lucknow, 06 July (HS): The Uttar Pradesh Data Center
Policy-2026 was approved at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
on Monday. Its objective is to develop Uttar Pradesh into a green, AI-ready,
and globally competitive data center hub. The policy aims to develop 2
gigawatts of additional capacity and attract investments worth over Rs. 2 lakh
crore. IT and Electronics Minister Sunil Sharma stated that the new policy
places special emphasis on GPU-based infrastructure, energy efficiency, and
sustainable development. Additional incentives have been proposed for the
Bundelkhand and Purvanchal regions.
50k people are likely to get employment: The approval of the
Data Center Policy-2026 will foster a world-class data center ecosystem in the
state. Employment opportunities will increase with the establishment of
information technology and other IT-based units around data center units. The
proposed policy is expected to provide long-term direct employment to 7,500
people and short-term direct employment to approximately 50,000 people during
the construction period.
Financial proposals approved for three-tier Panchayati
institutions: The cabinet meeting also approved a proposal regarding the
financial needs of Panchayati Raj institutions. According to this, a provision
of Rs. 14,988.50 crore has been made for all three levels of Panchayats under
the State Finance Commission in the financial year 2026-27. Ten percent of this
amount, or approximately Rs. 1,498 crore, will be spent on administrative,
operational, and maintenance costs. Of this amount, Rs. 495.89 crore will be
spent on honorarium and meeting allowances for Panchayat representatives. This represents approximately 1.05 percent of
the current installment of the State Finance Commission (Rs 14,988.50 crore)
and is in accordance with the mandate of December 12, 2024. This amount will be
spent as per the rules and requirements on the instructions of the Director,
Panchayati Raj.
Horticulture College to be established in Rae Bareli: A
cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved a proposal
to transfer 22 hectares of Agriculture Department land to the Department of
Agricultural Education and Research, free of charge, for the establishment of a
horticulture college in Rae Bareli district. This college will be established
under the Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur.
This decision will provide new impetus to the expansion of agricultural and
horticulture education in the state.
For the establishment of the Horticulture College, the
District Magistrate of Rae Bareli had identified available land in the village
of Padera, Pargana and Tehsil Sadar. As per the cabinet decision, 22 hectares
of the available 44,888 hectares will be transferred free of charge to the
Department of Agricultural Education and Research. This will provide a new
impetus to horticulture education, research, and the development of modern
agricultural techniques in eastern Uttar Pradesh, including Rae Bareli.
Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi said that currently
Chandrashekhar Azad Agriculture and Technology University Kanpur, Acharya
Narendra Dev Agriculture and Technology University Ayodhya, Banda Agriculture
and Technology University Banda, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Agriculture and
Technology University Meerut and private sector Sam Higginbottom Agriculture,
Technology and Science University Prayagraj are operating in the state. Apart
from this, Mahatma Buddha Agriculture and Technology University, Kushinagar is
being established with the aim of promoting agricultural activities in eastern
Uttar Pradesh.
He informed that a proposal has been prepared to establish a
Horticulture College in Rae Bareli under the Chandrashekhar Azad University of
Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur. The estimated expenditure on this project
is approximately Rs. 50 crore. The establishment of the college will promote
horticultural education, research, and modern agricultural techniques in the
state.
