Higher education takes new flight under Yogi government

Lucknow, 06 July (HS): Under the leadership of Chief

Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is setting global standards in the

field of higher education and skill development. In this series, the Phase 2 of

the two-day 'CU Scholar Summit 2026' was inaugurated on Sunday with great pomp

at Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh, the country's first AI augmented

multidisciplinary university. On the first day of the summit, more than 750 meritorious

students from 12 states and union territories including Bihar, Chhattisgarh,

Delhi, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh were honored.

The event's chief guest, Kapil Dev Agarwal, Minister of

State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education, Skill Development, and

Entrepreneurship, said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi

Adityanath, education and skill development in Uttar Pradesh are being

transformed to meet the needs of industry. He added that Chandigarh University

has set a new benchmark by providing scholarships worth approximately Rs. 50

crore to more than 3,000 meritorious students. This proves that under the Yogi

government's policies, lack of financial resources will not hinder the

education of any talented person.

He said that in today's competitive era, youth will need to

be proficient in emerging technologies like AI, data science, cybersecurity,

aerospace, and defense. The Yogi government is implementing Prime

Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India by 2047. Our goal is to

make the youth of Uttar Pradesh job creators, not job seekers, he said.

He added that daughters in the state are also receiving equal opportunities in

higher education and innovation.

CU UP Managing Director Jai Inder Singh Sandhu said, A

year ago, we laid the foundation of CU UP with a clear vision. Today, our

campus boasts advanced labs, GPU infrastructure, an AI space, and world-class

research facilities. He added that due to the industry-driven learning model,

many students have already been selected for internships at global companies.

AI is transforming every field. CU UP is preparing students for the future by

developing the country's first AI space.

The university announced scholarships worth up to Rs. 50

crore through CUCET for the 2026-27 academic year. Students received

scholarships of up to 100 percent based on merit. More than 750 engineering and

computing students were honored on the first day.

Policymakers, academics, industry experts, and alumni

deliberated on future skills in sessions themed From Scholar to

Future-Ready Professional: AI, Aerospace, Defense, and Engineering. Prof.

Dr. Luke Dickens of University College London and Prof. Dr. Thipendra Pal Singh

of CU UP spoke on global career opportunities.

In the From CU Classrooms to Global Careers

session, alumni shared their experiences of success. Superachievers shared

insights into placements, startups, research, patents, and international

achievements. Former BrahMos Aerospace CEO and MD Dr. Sudhir Kumar Mishra,

Technology Leader at Hitachi MGRM Net Ltd. Manish Pahuja, Founder of PISARV

Abhishek Mishra, and Co-Founder of Wifi Technology Vikram S. spoke on

innovation, industry expectations, and entrepreneurship. In a celebrity talk,

actor Kumud Mishra addressed the topic Creating Your Own Path: Identity,

Opportunity, and Success Beyond Timelines, urging young people to carve

their own path. Present on the occasion were Principal Secretary for Planning

and Program Implementation and Department of IT & Electronics Alok Kumar,

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vineet Kumar Nair, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. TP

Singh, and dignitaries from academia and industry.
