Lucknow, 06 July (HS): The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi
Parishad (ABVP), Lucknow, on Monday submitted a memorandum to the
Vice-Chancellor of Lucknow University, Prof. J. P. Saini, demanding stringent
action against the alleged illegal collection of money from students in the
name of viva voce and practical examinations at the university-affiliated Shree
Geet Law College, Itaunja. The memorandum also sought a fair and impartial
inquiry into various academic and administrative irregularities prevailing in
the institution.
Earlier, ABVP karyakartas visited the college and attempted
to hold discussions with the Principal regarding the complaints raised by
students. However, instead of engaging in constructive dialogue, the college
administration allegedly adopted an uncooperative and insensitive approach.
Subsequently, an ABVP delegation reached Lucknow University and submitted a
memorandum containing six key demands to the Vice-Chancellor.
The memorandum called for a comprehensive inquiry into the
alleged illegal collection of money in the name of viva and practical
examinations, an impartial investigation into the academic and administrative
irregularities in the college, and strict administrative as well as legal
action against those found responsible. It further highlighted that despite
several serious irregularities, the institution has continued to function for
years, adversely affecting the academic interests of students. Taking serious
note of the matter, Vice-Chancellor Prof. J. P. Saini assured the delegation
that the university would conduct a fair inquiry and ensure appropriate action
in accordance with the findings.
ABVP Bakshi Ka Talab Convenor Ankit Pandey said, Educational
institutions are meant to shape the future and character of students, not to
become centres of their economic exploitation. The alleged illegal collection
of money in the name of viva and practical examinations, along with the mental
pressure imposed upon students, is an extremely serious issue. ABVP will never
compromise on the interests of students. We expect the Lucknow University
administration to conduct a fair and time-bound inquiry into the entire matter
and ensure strict administrative as well as legal action against those
responsible. If any laxity is shown in delivering justice to the students, ABVP
will be compelled to launch a phased agitation, and the entire responsibility
for the same will rest with the concerned college administration and the
university administration.
