New Delhi, 05 July (H.S.):

Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) International President and senior advocate Alok Kumar has sought an investigation into the claims made by several political leaders, including Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav, Aam Aadmi Party leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh, and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, regarding the alleged theft of offerings at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.

He said these leaders should be required to present the facts supporting their claims before the investigating agencies and that legal action should be initiated against them if they fail to substantiate their allegations. No one should be allowed to make baseless allegations. Such accusations promote hatred, ill will and hostility. Those who indulge in creating such malicious sentiments should not be allowed to go unpunished, he said.

The VHP leader has written a letter to Ayodhya Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ashutosh Tiwari in this regard. In the letter, he referred to the FIR registered in connection with the alleged theft of offerings at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. He said that several political leaders, through their public statements, have made claims regarding the alleged theft, with some alleging misappropriation of donations amounting to as much as Rs 20,000 crore.

Alok Kumar said the statements made by these individuals indicate that they appear to possess detailed knowledge of the facts and circumstances surrounding the case. Therefore, for a fair and comprehensive investigation, it would be necessary to summon them under the relevant legal provisions to record their statements.

He further said that if these individuals are able to provide evidence supporting their allegations, it would assist the investigation. However, if they are making public accusations without any factual basis, such statements could adversely affect the investigation. In that case, legal action should be taken against them, as no one should be permitted to level allegations without evidence.
