Guwahati, July 5 (HS): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway recovered contraband and valuables worth over ₹43.92 lakh during a six-day security drive conducted from June 25 to 30 across its jurisdiction.

RPF carried out 36 operations, seizing 83.984 kg of ganja, illicit liquor, mobile phones, illegal railway tickets and cash. A total of 17 offenders were arrested in cases related to narcotics trafficking, ticket touting, theft, stone pelting and other offences.

The force also rescued 17 persons, including 15 minors and two vulnerable adults and ensured their safe handover to the appropriate authorities. In addition, RPF cleared 61 illegal structures from about 5,600 sq m of railway land at Safrai Railway Station during an anti-encroachment drive conducted with the support of civil and police authorities.-----------
