New Delhi, 05 July (H.S.):
Union Minister of State for External Affairs and for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Kirti Vardhan Singh will travel to Geneva, Switzerland, on Monday to lead the Indian delegation at the United Nations' two-day Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Ministry of External Affairs said on Sunday.
According to the ministry, Singh will represent India at the Global Dialogue from July 6 to 7. During the conference, the Independent International Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence (IISPA) will present its first annual independent scientific assessment report on AI capabilities, emerging opportunities and associated risks.
The ministry said the dialogue will feature thematic discussions on four key areas: the socio-economic impact of AI, addressing inequalities related to AI, ensuring safe and trustworthy AI, and protecting human rights in the context of artificial intelligence.
The Global Dialogue on AI Governance is a global multi-stakeholder platform established under United Nations General Assembly Resolution 79/325. The initiative was launched following the adoption of the Global Digital Compact as part of the Pact for the Future in September 2024. Its objective is to advance international AI governance while supporting international, regional, national and multi-stakeholder efforts in the field.
The dialogue works in collaboration with the Independent International Scientific Panel to strengthen scientific understanding, promote transparency, accountability and robust human oversight of AI systems. It also seeks to enhance capacity-building, particularly in developing countries, to ensure that AI technologies contribute to sustainable development.
The ministry further stated that, in accordance with the rules and procedures adopted in August 2025, the co-chairs conducted a series of consultations, including an in-person consultation held during the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi in February this year. These consultations played an important role in shaping the agenda and priorities of the Global Dialogue.
