
NEW DELHI/BAHADURGARH (Haryana), 05 July (H.S.): Two wanted shooters associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi-Hariram alias Harry Boxer-Anil Pandit gang were killed in a police encounter in Bahadurgarh on Sunday morning. The deceased have been identified as Pravesh and Himanshu. Both were accused in the murder of Hansi-based gym owner Kapil and carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh each announced by the Haryana Police. A Delhi Police Special Cell constable was also injured after being struck by a bullet during the encounter and is currently undergoing treatment. Haryana Special Task Force (STF) Superintendent of Police Vikrant Bhushan confirmed the operation, which was jointly carried out by the Delhi Police Special Cell and the Haryana STF.
SP Bhushan said that gym owner Kapil was shot dead by two unidentified assailants in Hansi last month. During the investigation, police identified Lawrence Bishnoi's close associates, Pravesh and Himanshu, as the alleged perpetrators. According to the Delhi Police, the Counter Intelligence Unit of the Special Cell had received specific information that the two wanted accused, both residents of Hisar and wanted in another case as well, were present in Haryana. Acting on this intelligence, the Delhi Police Special Cell and the Haryana STF launched a joint operation.
Bhushan said, The police teams first cordoned off the area and then advanced to apprehend the suspects. On seeing the police, Pravesh and Himanshu opened fire. In self-defence, the police teams retaliated. He added, During the exchange of fire, one constable sustained a bullet injury to his leg, while bullets struck the bulletproof jackets of four other police personnel. Both shooters were also injured in the encounter. They were rushed to hospital but could not be saved, and doctors declared them dead. The injured constable has been referred to a super-speciality hospital for further treatment.
According to the Delhi Police, Constable Ankit of the Special Cell's Counter Intelligence Unit sustained a bullet injury to his leg during the encounter. His condition is reported to be out of danger, and he is receiving medical treatment.
Senior officers of the Haryana Police, along with teams from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and the Crime Investigation Unit, visited the encounter site. A case has been registered at Bahadurgarh Sadar Police Station under charges including assault on police personnel, attempt to murder, and other relevant provisions of law.
