Guwahati, 28 July (HS): The Imperial Blue Packaged Drinking Water Assam Premier League (APL) on Tuesday unveiled Rhony, a spirited one-horned rhinoceros, as the official mascot of the tournament, symbolising Assam's rich heritage, strength and resilience.

Inspired by Assam's iconic one-horned rhinoceros, Rhony has been designed around the slogan Roar. Charge. Conquer., reflecting the league's competitive spirit, determination and fearless approach to the game. The mascot is expected to become the face of the tournament by engaging with fans at match venues and through the league's digital platforms.

According to the organisers, Roar represents the passion and voice of Assam's cricket fans, Charge symbolises the fearless intent of participating teams, while Conquer reflects the ambition to overcome challenges and emerge victorious.

The organisers said the choice of the one-horned rhinoceros strengthens the league's connection with Assam's identity while projecting the energy and dynamism of a modern sporting competition.

The inaugural edition of the Assam Premier League will be held from August 1 to 23, 2026, featuring 43 matches over 23 days, including 40 league-stage matches, two semi-finals and the final. Eight teams from across the state will compete for the title, with the top four advancing to the semi-finals on August 21 before the champions are crowned on August 23.

The Imperial Blue Packaged Drinking Water Assam Premier League is being organised under the aegis of the Assam Cricket Association with the motto Aamar Axom, Aamar Gourab.-----------
