Thiruvananthapuram, 27 July (H.S.):The Students' Federation of India (SFI) has lodged a complaint with Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala and Director General of Police Ravada A. Chandrasekhar, seeking legal action against RSS ideologue and political commentator T.G. Mohandas over alleged hate speech targeting students who participated in the recent Jantar Mantar protest in New Delhi.
In the complaint, submitted via email, the SFI alleged that Mohandas made inflammatory remarks during an interview on a YouTube channel while referring to the student agitation demanding the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET paper leak controversy.
According to the complaint, Mohandas allegedly suggested that the authorities should impose curfew within a four-kilometre radius of Jantar Mantar and ask protesters to disperse three times before opening fire on them. The SFI further alleged that he said several protesters should be killed or dismembered and their bodies taken to hospitals.
Describing the remarks as a direct incitement to violence, the SFI argued that they went far beyond the limits of political opinion or public debate. The organisation said the statements undermined the value of human life, threatened the democratic right to peaceful protest and created fear among citizens exercising their constitutional freedoms.
The student body also expressed concern over the circulation of the alleged remarks on digital platforms, warning that allowing such content to remain unchecked could embolden others to promote violence against political dissenters.
The SFI has urged the State government to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the complete audio and video recordings of the alleged speech. It has sought scientific retrieval and forensic examination of the original recordings, followed by appropriate legal action if the allegations are substantiated.
The organisation maintained that freedom of expression cannot be invoked to justify speech that allegedly incites violence or advocates harm against peaceful protesters, and called for swift intervention to uphold constitutional rights and the rule of law.
