Villagers protesting against PMGSY authorities in Rajouri

Jammu, 27 July (H.S.): Residents of Rajdhani-A, Baglan village in the Thannamandi Sub-Division staged a strong protest against the PMGSY authorities, alleging that poor drainage arrangements along the road have caused widespread inconvenience and financial losses to the local population.

The protesting villagers claimed that the absence of a proper drainage system has resulted in rainwater flowing into agricultural fields and nearby residential areas, causing significant damage to standing crops and affecting daily life. They alleged that repeated requests to the concerned authorities for the construction of an effective drainage system have not yielded any concrete action.

Raising slogans against the department, the protesters demanded immediate intervention by the PMGSY authorities to construct proper drains, prevent further water-logging, and compensate farmers who have suffered crop losses due to the alleged negligence.

The locals warned that if their genuine grievances are not addressed promptly, they would be compelled to intensify their agitation in the coming days. They urged the district administration and the PMGSY wing to take immediate corrective measures to safeguard agricultural land and ensure that road infrastructure does not become a source of hardship for the public.
