Guwahati, 26 July (HS): Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister Ashok Singhal chaired a high-level review meeting in Dispuron Monday to assess the healthcare system in Dibrugarh and Golaghat districts, with a focus on ensuring quality, affordable and timely healthcare services across the state.
The meeting was part of an ongoing series of district-wise reviews launched on July 20 to strengthen Assam's public health system and improve healthcare delivery in all 126 Assembly constituencies. The minister reviewed the implementation of key health schemes and issued directions to enhance public health infrastructure and service delivery.
Special emphasis was laid on maternal and child healthcare, expansion of free dialysis services, faster and more efficient 108 ambulance services and the progress of the TB-Free India campaign, including patient identification and treatment.
Singhal also urged elected representatives to actively support the effective implementation of Health Clubs, Mobile Medical Units (MMUs), the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) and the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK). He called on MLAs to promote health awareness in schools and communities, strengthen healthcare access in remote areas through mobile medical units, ensure early detection of childhood illnesses and focus on adolescent nutrition, mental health, menstrual hygiene and drug-free living.
The meeting was attended by Ministers Atul Bora and Rameswar Teli, along with MLAs Binod Hazarika, Chakradhar Gogoi, Mridul Kumar Dutta, Mrinal Saikia and Biswajit Phukan, who highlighted healthcare issues in their respective constituencies and offered suggestions for improving medical services.
Director of Medical Education Dr Manoj Kumar Choudhury, National Health Mission, Assam Executive Director Dr Abhijit Sharma and senior officials of the Health Department were also present.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Health Minister directed officials to accelerate the implementation of priority health schemes, strengthen inter-departmental coordination and ensure quality healthcare reaches every citizen, including those living in remote and rural areas.----------
