Lucknow, 27 July (HS): Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh Chief
Minister, has formally shot off a special letter (Paati) to the
state's inhabitants ahead of the Guru Purnima festivities. In his speech, CM
Yogi underlines that Guru Purnima is a holy celebration that honors, respects,
and thanks teachers and spiritual gurus. He emphasizes that the Guru-Shishya
(master-disciple) lineage is the fundamental foundation of Sanatan culture and
spiritual consciousness.
Guru Purnima is a universal emblem of wisdom, according to
him, and it represents spiritual awakening in various religions. It
commemorates Maharishi Ved Vyas in the Vedic tradition, Lord Buddha's first
discourse (Dhammachakkapavattana) in Buddhism, Gautam Swami's initiation in
Jainism, and Gurbani's pinnacle status in Sikhism.
True Life Direction: He reminds the audience that a Guru
molds a disciple's basic beliefs, character, and life direction rather than
simply imparting academic information.
Path to Development: CM Yogi encourages citizens to remember their instructors
and incorporate their ideas into daily life, noting that a society that
respects its Gurus is one that advances.
Yogi Adityanath is also the Gorakhnath Math's Peethadheeshwar (Head Priest), in
addition to his administrative duties. His usual Guru Purnima itinerary
includes:
Guru Puja: Offer ceremonial prayers and special roti prasad to Mahayogi Guru
Gorakhnath.
Paying Homage to Linage Gurus: Praying at the samadhis of
his spiritual mentors, Mahant Avaidyanath and Mahant Digvijaynath.
Blessing Disciples: While sitting in his spiritual capacity,
he accepts tilak and blesses hundreds of visiting seers and devotees.
Public Service (Janata Darshan): Holding public grievance redressal meetings on
the temple grounds to benefit the local community.

Brahman (universe). The sacred festival of Guru Purnima is an occasion for all
of us to express our reverence, gratitude, and respect towards our Gurus. In

themselves the light of knowledge, who lead the disciple out from the darkness
of ignorance onto the path of truth, values, and enlightenment. I make a
special appeal to all of you: always keep your Gurus in your remembrance.
Internalize the ideals they have given in your life. This will ensure your own
development, and only then will the path to a developed state be paved,” UP CM
