New Delhi, 27 July (H.S.): The Delhi Police has intensified its action in connection with alleged objectionable posts, videos and comments targeting the Prime Minister that were shared on social media during the 37-day-long protest organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar.

The police have issued notices to various social media platforms directing them to remove content allegedly containing abusive language, derogatory remarks or objectionable material. Along with this, the police have identified around 450 social media accounts linked to the protest, which are accused of circulating deepfake videos and misleading content created using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

According to police sources, the monitoring campaign against objectionable online content is continuing. A senior police officer said that several posts and videos had been uploaded on different platforms, many of which have already been removed. The process of identifying and taking down other objectionable content is still underway.

The officer said that the Delhi Police has issued notices to various social media companies, instructing them to remove posts containing abusive language, offensive remarks and defamatory content against the Prime Minister. The police’s social media monitoring team is continuously keeping track of platforms including Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube and others. Whenever any objectionable post is detected, notices are sent to the concerned platforms for its removal.

Sources said that during the protest, several posts allegedly using inappropriate language against the Prime Minister went viral on social media. The police are identifying such posts and initiating action against those responsible. The police have stated that the campaign against content violating legal provisions on online platforms will continue.

During the investigation, the Delhi Police has also identified nearly 450 social media accounts that allegedly circulated deepfake videos and AI-generated content related to the protest. The police have recommended that these accounts be blocked by the respective social media platforms. An investigation is also underway to determine the individuals or organisations operating these accounts and their alleged motives.

It may be noted that the CJP announced the withdrawal of its 37-day-long protest on Saturday after the central government accepted its key demands. One of the organisation’s major demands was the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
