Bhubaneswar, 27 July (H.S.): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday chaired the 19th edition of the state-level public grievance hearing programme, reiterating the government’s commitment to responsive and accountable governance.
The session was held at the Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell in Unit-II, Bhubaneswar, where the Chief Minister personally heard complaints from citizens. He was joined by six senior ministers, along with senior administrative officials, including Additional Chief Secretaries and Secretaries.
Addressing the media, the Chief Minister said that the status of each complaint is being closely monitored on a regular basis. “From the state level to the district level, grievance redressal mechanisms are being actively supervised, leading to a steady increase in resolution rates. This has strengthened public trust in the system,” he stated.
According to official data, out of 14,941 complaints received during the previous 18 grievance hearing sessions at the state level, as many as 14,331—approximately 96%—have already been resolved.
At the district level, grievance hearings are being conducted regularly by Collectors and Superintendents of Police, while similar mechanisms are functional at the tehsil and block levels. By the end of June, a total of 2,59,213 complaints had been registered at the district level, with an 89% resolution rate achieved.
During the session, the Chief Minister also interacted with differently-abled individuals and patients suffering from serious ailments who were waiting outside the venue. He received their petitions and directed officials to take immediate action.
In a significant humanitarian gesture, financial assistance amounting to ₹6.15 lakh was sanctioned on the spot for the treatment of 12 critically ill patients through a single-window system. The beneficiaries expressed relief and satisfaction after receiving the support.
More than 700 complaints were received on Monday through both online and offline modes.
Reaffirming his government’s approach, the Chief Minister said, “Our government has always remained connected with the people. We are giving the highest priority to addressing public grievances. This is truly a government of the people.”
