New Delhi, 25 July (H.S.): Union Minister of State for Ayush and Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav has written to Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, requesting them to give positive consideration to the proposal and issue the necessary instructions to the concerned officials.

In his letter, Jadhav said Sant Gajanan Maharaj was born in February 1878 in Shegaon, in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district, and that the town has since become one of the country’s major pilgrimage centres, drawing lakhs of devotees from India and abroad.

He said Sant Gajanan Maharaj’s life and spiritual message of devotion, compassion, selfless service and human welfare continue to inspire millions of people even today. He added that the saint’s life and teachings are described in the well-known religious text Shri Gajanan Vijay, which devotees read with deep reverence.

Jadhav also highlighted the notable work being done by the Shri Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan, Shegaon, in the fields of education, healthcare, rural development, social welfare and humanitarian service. He said issuing a commemorative coin and postage stamp would be an important step toward giving national recognition to the saint’s spiritual and cultural legacy.

He further said that President Droupadi Murmu had visited Shegaon on February 25, 2026, to inaugurate the National Health Fair organised under the Ayush Ministry, which strengthened Shegaon’s identity as a centre of spirituality, culture and public service.

According to the report, Sant Gajanan Maharaj’s 150th Prakatya Day will be observed on February 17, 2028.
