New Delhi, 24 July (H.S.): The Congress will organise district-level candle marches and Satyagraha across the country on the evening of July 25 in protest against alleged irregularities in the NEET and CBSE examinations and the police action against students.

The programme will conclude at the statues of Mahatma Gandhi or Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and will serve as a symbol of solidarity with students and young people.

In an official letter issued on Friday, Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal stated that the Satyagraha would be held in support of students and youth whose future has been affected due to failures in the examination system. The party has also demanded the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The letter stated that all Pradesh Congress Committees and District Congress Committees should lead the programme in their respective areas. It also directed that Block Congress Committees, frontal organisations, departments, cells and party workers should ensure active participation in the campaign.

The Congress urged all state party presidents to ensure that the programme is conducted in a peaceful, disciplined and effective manner. The party also called for extensive media and social media coverage so that the message reaches clearly that the Congress stands with students and will oppose any attempt to suppress democratic voices.
