New Delhi, 24 July (H.S.): Amid the ongoing Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar, the Delhi Police on Thursday urged the public to remain vigilant against misinformation circulating on social media. The police claimed that it has identified 480 Pakistani social media handles allegedly spreading misleading information, edited videos, and fabricated posts in an attempt to exploit the prevailing situation. The process of blocking these accounts has already been initiated.

According to the Delhi Police, the investigation revealed that these are the same social media handles that were active during Operation Sindoor. The police alleged that their objective is to mislead the public, particularly students, incite emotions, and disrupt law and order by disseminating false narratives.

The Delhi Police appealed to citizens not to place immediate trust in edited videos, fake posts, or information shared through unidentified social media accounts. It advised people to verify the authenticity of any message or video through fact-checking before forwarding or sharing it. The police warned that spreading rumours or circulating unverified content could further aggravate the situation.

The police also reiterated that peaceful protest is a constitutional right of every citizen and affirmed that the Delhi Police fully respects this right. However, it urged people not to be influenced by anti-social elements or allow their emotions to be exploited. Citizens were advised to rely only on official and verified sources of information.
