Tamulpur (Assam), 22 July (HS): A preparatory meeting for the 80th Independence Day celebrations was held at the Tamulpur District Commissioner's office on Wednesday under the chairmanship of District Commissioner Simi Karan, IAS.

The meeting decided to hold the main celebration at the Tamulpur Higher Secondary School playground. Responsibilities were assigned to various departments for the smooth conduct of the event. Discussions covered tree plantation, march-past, cultural programmes, photography competition, friendly football match, departmental exhibitions and felicitation of distinguished personalities. A special stall for the Census 2027 Self-Enumeration portal will also be set up. Senior Superintendent of Police Suman Chakraborty stressed proper flag hoisting, security arrangements, and cleanliness during the celebrations.---------
