Guwahati, 22 July (HS): Assam Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Minister Kaushik Rai on Wednesday reviewed the preparedness for the distribution of Masur Dal and sugar to beneficiaries covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) at a meeting held in Janata Bhawan.

The review meeting assessed the progress of procurement, supply and distribution mechanisms, with departmental officials and representatives of NAFED providing updates on the implementation of the scheme.

Stressing the need for timely delivery of essential food items, Rai directed officials and NAFED representatives to ensure close coordination and streamline operational arrangements. He instructed all stakeholders to adhere to the prescribed timelines and strengthen the supply chain for efficient distribution across the state.

The Minister reaffirmed the Assam government's commitment to strengthening food security and ensuring the effective implementation of welfare schemes. He said the government is working to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits in a transparent, efficient and timely manner.

Additional Chief Secretary Biswaranjan Samal, Secretary Anusuya Dutta Baruah, Commissioner Hemanta Bhuyan and other senior departmental officials attended the meeting.-----------
