
Silchar (Assam), 22 July (HS): Cachar Police arrested 13 persons in seven separate operations carried out across the district over the past two days, recovering large quantities of suspected heroin, Yaba tablets, cannabis and urea fertiliser, officials said on Wednesday.
According to Cachar Police Headquarters, the operations led to the seizure of 402.90 grams of suspected heroin concealed in 34 soap cases and 26 vials, 24,000 suspected Yaba tablets, 2.113 kg of suspected marijuana and 1,050 bags of Bharat Urea Fertiliser weighing 45 kg each.
In Kachudaram police station limits, police recovered 119.11 grams of suspected heroin hidden inside 10 soap cases along with a mobile phone and arrested one person. Another operation by Dholai Police resulted in the seizure of 49 grams of suspected heroin concealed in four soap cases from an auto-rickshaw, leading to the arrest of one accused.
Silchar Police also recovered 2.113 kg of suspected cannabis and arrested two persons. In a separate raid in the Silchar bypass area, police seized 0.79 grams of suspected heroin concealed in 26 vials and arrested one individual.
Jirighat Police recovered 234 grams of suspected heroin hidden in 20 soap cases from a motorcycle and arrested one accused. In another major operation, Silchar Police intercepted a WagonR car (AS-11C-4461) and seized 24,000 suspected Yaba tablets. Three persons were arrested, while the vehicle and four mobile phones were confiscated.
In Dholai's Lailapur area, police seized 1,050 bags of Bharat Urea Fertiliser from two trucks and arrested four persons in connection with the case.
Overall, police seized one WagonR car, one auto-rickshaw, one motorcycle, two trucks and five mobile phones during the seven operations. Further investigation is underway in all the cases.----------
