Guwahati, 21 July (HS): In view of the worsening flood situation across Assam, Rajya Sabha MPs Terash Gowala and Yogen Mohan have contributed a portion of their salaries to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to support relief and rehabilitation efforts.

Meanwhile, torrential rainfall and a cloudburst in Nagaland's Mon district have triggered severe flooding in Upper Assam, worsening the flood situation in several districts.

The worst-affected areas include Shalna, Kalapani and Amguri under Kaliabor, where floodwaters have inundated vast stretches after a surge in the Diju River caused by heavy rainfall in the Karbi Hills.

Around 90 families, comprising nearly 500 people from the two villages, have been affected by the floods, with water entering residential areas and disrupting normal life. Authorities are monitoring the situation as relief measures continue in the affected regions.-----------
