Varanasi, 20 July (HS): State Prison Minister Dara Singh

Chauhan said that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the Yogi

government has taken important steps towards the reform of prisons. Continuous

work is being done to make the prisons modern, safe and reform-oriented.

Concrete action is being taken to bring the prisoners lodged in the jails back

into the mainstream of the society and to bring about positive reforms in them.

The Prison Minister was addressing the passing out ceremony of the Prison

Officer Cadre (123rd Session) and Jail Warden Cadre (179th Session) held at the

Prison Headquarters' Dr. Sampurnanand Prison Training Institute, Lucknow on

Monday.

The Prison Minister said that along with the rehabilitation

of prisoners, attention is also being paid to enhancing their moral values

and providing them vocational education and skill training, so that they can

become responsible citizens and useful to the society.

Dara Singh Chauhan first inspected the parade from aboard

the parade vehicle and took the salute. A total of 91 trainees participated in

the parade, including 12 officers, six superintendents and three assistant

superintendents from Chhattisgarh, three deputy jailers from the state, and 79

jail warders from the state.

On this occasion, the Prison Minister, while congratulating

all the trainees, said that all the trained officers and jail warders will

discharge their duties with dedication, honesty, and a spirit of service. He

honored the 31 trainees who performed best during the training. All the trained

officers and jail warders were also administered the oath of office and secrecy

for their new responsibilities.

In the officer cadre, Chhattisgarh's jail superintendents

Prasoon Gupta, Sudhir Thakur, Taman, Nirmal Singh, Sameeksha Sahu, Lokeshwari,

Chhattisgarh's assistant superintendents Sandeep Kumar, Mahendra Kumar,

Anupriya Lakra, and Uttar Pradesh's deputy jailers Anupam Mishra, Disha, and

Tejaswi Tiwari received training. In the jail warder cadre, 79 trainee jail

warders from Uttar Pradesh participated.

In the convocation ceremony, the award for the best trainee

in the officer cadre was given to Taman, Jail Superintendent of District Jail

Gariaband, Chhattisgarh and the award for the best trainee in the jail warder

cadre was given to Atul Yadav of District Jail Bagpat, Uttar Pradesh. Speaking

at the event, Director General of Prisons P.C. Meena stated that this training

institute is not only the first in the country, but also in Asia, where prison

officers from other states and abroad have been trained. By March 2026, 1,681

officers and 13,266 prison warder personnel have been trained at this

institute.
