Instructions for demonstration by July 31, learning targets

set from Balvatika to Class 5

Lucknow, 20 July (HS): To strengthen the goal-based teaching

system in council schools, the Basic Education Department has taken a big step

under the Nipun Bharat Mission. The department has given instructions to

compulsorily display the Nipun Lakshya posters of the respective class in all

the classes of every council primary school by July 31. Along with this, their

display will also be ensured in all BRC, BSA office and DIET. The aim of the

department is to make the learning goals fixed for every student from Balvatika

to class 5 a part of the daily teaching process of the school.

The display of the Nipun Lakshya posters has also been

integrated into the inspection system. Questions related to poster display are

being included in the Supportive Supervision App and the Inspection App. Additionally;

Nipun Lakshya will be discussed in depth in Nipun Sankalp workshops and all

teacher training programs. Teachers, parents, and other stakeholders will also

be continuously educated and motivated about these goals. Poster displays at

the school level will be facilitated through TLM grants.

The Nipun Goal Chart sets subject-wise learning outcomes for

each grade from kindergarten to grade 5. In kindergarten, goals include reading

simple two- to three-letter words, recognizing and writing one's own name, and

recognizing single-digit numbers. In grades 1 and 2, emphasis is placed on

skills such as reading and writing short sentences, counting, addition, subtraction,

and the use of currency in daily life. For grades 3 to 5, clear learning goals

include reading an unknown passage in Hindi with understanding and answering at

least 75% of the questions correctly, independent writing, understanding

multiplication, division, fractions, and geometric shapes in mathematics,

practical concepts related to environmental studies, and reading and writing

with understanding in English. The department believes that based on these

standards, teachers will be able to assess each child's learning progress and

provide additional academic support as needed.

Director General of School Education, Monica Rani, stated

that the Nipun Lakshya is not just about displaying posters, but clear

standards that guide each child's learning. Teaching in accordance with these

goals will enable teachers to better assess children's learning progress and

provide educational support as needed. She directed all officials to ensure the

display of the Nipun Lakshya posters in every school by July 31st and to ensure

their effective use at every level of training, classroom teaching, and

inspection.
