Hooghly, 20 July (H.S.): A 15-year-old girl, who went missing after leaving home for school in Hooghly's Bhadreswar area, has been rescued safely by the police. Three persons have been arrested in connection with the alleged abduction, the police said on Sunday night.

According to the police, the minor had left her residence for school on July 17 but did not return. After an extensive search by her family proved unsuccessful, her father lodged a written complaint alleging that Mohammad Manzoor and others had abducted and wrongfully confined his daughter with malicious intent.

Based on the complaint, Bhadreswar Police Station Case No. 231/26, dated July 18, 2026, was registered under Sections 137(2) and 140(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Acting swiftly on credible intelligence, the Bhadreswar police conducted multiple raids and successfully rescued the minor girl. During the operation, three accused were arrested.

The arrested persons have been identified as Md Firoz Ansari alias Rohit, a resident of Santikunjpara, Murgi Goli, Champdani; Divya Prasad, wife of Md Firoz Ansari alias Rohit; and 20-year-old Md Manzoor, a resident of Yasin Gally, Champdani. Firoz Ansari was arrested from Serampore police station area, Divya Prasad from Bhadreswar police station area, and Manzoor from Nischinda police station area under the Howrah Police Commissionerate.

The police said all statutory legal formalities have been completed following the victim's rescue, including her medical examination, recording of her statement under Section 180 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), necessary seizures, and her production before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). Further investigation is in progress.
