Guwahati, 20 July (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said the health and safety of every citizen remain the state government's highest priority as flood relief and rescue operations continue across affected districts.

The Chief Minister stated in a social media post that medical teams have been deployed in flood-hit areas to conduct timely health check-ups of children, pregnant women, senior citizens and those suffering from illnesses. He said directions have been issued to ensure an uninterrupted supply of essential medicines and emergency medical items.

Sarma added that the Health Department is maintaining heightened vigilance in relief camps and flood-affected localities. Adequate stocks of medicines, baby food and other medical supplies have been ensured at health camps to prevent any shortage during the crisis.

He further said that ministers and local MLAs are closely monitoring the flood situation on the ground and coordinating with district administrations and concerned departments to ensure timely rescue operations and distribution of relief materials.

Expressing confidence in the collective response, the Chief Minister said the state government stands firmly with the people and is committed to extending every possible assistance to help them overcome the natural disaster.------------
