Hooghly, 20 July (H.S.): A 14-year-old boy has gone missing from Shibpur Narayanipally under Mogra Police Station in Hooghly district after reportedly leaving home following a reprimand from his family over excessive online gaming. The incident has sparked concern in the locality.
According to family members, the missing boy, Sounik Das, left home without informing anyone at around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday. His parents had reportedly scolded him over his lack of interest in studies and his growing addiction to online games.
The family later received information from an acquaintance who claimed to have seen Sounik near Tribeni Railway Station. However, by the time his relatives reached the spot, the boy had already left.
After an extensive search failed to trace him, the family lodged a missing person complaint with Mogra Police Station.
The police have registered a case and launched an intensive search operation. CCTV footage from Tribeni Railway Station and nearby areas is being examined to trace the boy's movements. Officers said on Monday that all necessary efforts are being made to locate him at the earliest.
