Bhubaneswar, 02 July (H.S.) : The Odisha government has scheduled the annual joint technical inspection of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri for July 18, 2026, as part of its routine structural assessment ahead of the Rath Yatra.

According to an official communication issued by the Works Department, the inspection will commence at 10:30 am and will be carried out jointly by members of the Technical Committee of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and officials from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Puri Circle.

Following the inspection, a review meeting will be held at the SJTA Conference Hall/PWD Inspection Bungalow, Nirman Niwas, Puri, where officials will discuss the findings and determine the necessary follow-up measures.

To facilitate the inspection, the Works Department has requested the ASI to make the required arrangements, including staging inside the Garvagriha (sanctum sanctorum), Jagamohana, and Natamandapa, enabling experts to conduct a comprehensive structural assessment.

The department clarified that the exercise is a routine annual inspection undertaken every year to evaluate the structural condition of the centuries-old shrine and ensure its preservation.

The official communication was issued by Er. Laksmi Kanta Padhi, Engineer-in-Chief-cum-Special Secretary to the Government, Works Department, and addressed to the Superintending Archaeologist, ASI, Puri Circle.
