Ayodhya, 02 July (HS): Lawyers from the Faizabad Bar
Association protested in Ayodhya on Thursday and filed a police complaint
seeking a FIR against the resigned Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust
general secretary, Champat Rai, trust member Anil Mishra, and temple official
Gopal Rao for alleged embezzlement of donation funds. The attorneys marched
from the courthouse to the Ram Janmabhoomi police station, demanding that a
case be filed and a fair and impartial investigation be conducted. According to
Faizabad Bar Association president Kalika Prasad Mishra, Krishna Mohan, another
trustee and the complainant in the case's original FIR, has also been named an
accused in the complaint.
During March, a huge number of attorneys raised slogans
demanding the formation of a FIR and an inquiry of the Trust's senior
officials. Previously, the bar association stated that it would not defend the
accused in the case and threatened any lawyer who opted to represent them with
a Rs 5 lakh fine per accused. During the march, police officers struggled to
manage the throng, and several attorneys claimed minor injuries as a result of
the jostling. At the police station, several lawyers and media personnel
gathered in the Station House Officer's office and demanded that a case be registered
immediately, while police officials tried to reassure them by saying that the
complaint would be investigated and appropriate action would be taken in
accordance with the law.
Mishra informed reporters that the group has filed a FIR
against the three identified individuals for suspected misappropriation of Ram
Temple contributions and wanted an impartial probe. Rao works in temple
building and with the Trust. Mishra stated, A written complaint has been
submitted. Five persons have gone to get a physical copy of the complaint. If
they do not give a copy, the protest will proceed. The police have stated that
action would be done and have provided complete assurance on the situation. The
FIR names Champat Rai ji, Anil Mishra ji, Gopal Rao, and Krishna Dev (the
complainant in the original FIR). For the time being, we'll wait to see what
happens at the Kotwali Shri Ram Janmabhoomi police station. “
Superintendent of Police (City), Chakrapani Tripathi, stated
that the police had received a complaint and were investigating. Later,
authorities stated that the complaint was put into the General Diary at the Ram
Janmabhoomi police station, and that an acknowledgement receipt was sent to the
complainants.
A senior police official stated that the allegation is being investigated in
line with the law, and necessary action would be taken. He stated that if a FIR
is proven to be merited but not recorded, action would be taken against the
officers involved at the police station. A General Diary is the police station's
official record of complaints, occurrences, and daily activities. The
attorneys' protest, the police investigation of the complaint, and increased
security have all contributed to the ongoing Ram temple donation scandal, which
has already resulted in a FIR, arrests, and a larger investigation.
