Bhubaneswar, 19 July (H.S.): Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik has extended his congratulations to Indian badminton ace P. V. Sindhu for her historic victory at the Japan Open 2026, where she secured the women’s singles title, becoming the first Indian to win the prestigious tournament.

In a social media post, Patnaik lauded Sindhu’s exceptional performance in the final, where she defeated Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi, a three-time world champion and home favourite, in straight sets. He praised her flawless display and dominance throughout the match.

Describing the achievement as a proud moment for the nation, Patnaik expressed hope that Sindhu will continue her stellar form and bring more laurels to India. He also conveyed his best wishes for her future endeavours on the international stage.
