Kaziranga (Assam), 19 July (HS): Assam Forest Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah on Sunday said that destruction of forest land in the name of border disputes will not be tolerated and that the government will take strict and appropriate action against those involved.

Speaking to mediapersons after attending a programme and during his visit to Kaziranga, the minister also commented on the recent firing incident in the Behali forest area, stating that the matter is being taken seriously and necessary action will be taken.

Baruah further announced that the Assam government will introduce a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in Assembly session to address the growing human-elephant conflict across the state. He added that a separate SOP will also be prepared to tackle the increasing menace caused by monkeys in several areas.-----------
