Lucknow, 19 July (HS): In Lucknow, at the inauguration

ceremony of the new headquarters building of the Uttar Pradesh State Disaster

Management Authority, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “Early vigilance,

preparation, and awareness about disasters can minimize loss of life and

property.” He emphasized that disaster management should be a part of our daily

lives. Unusual behavior increases losses, while a little awareness can control

major losses. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was addressing the gathering after

inaugurating the new headquarters building of the Uttar Pradesh State Disaster

Management Authority in Lucknow on Sunday.

He expressed deep sorrow and anger over the recent 111

deaths in a single day due to bad weather. The Chief Minister said that these

deaths occurred due to sudden change in weather in many districts including

Lucknow, Fatehpur, Prayagraj, Jaunpur and Azamgarh, which could have been

prevented with better coordination.

He has given strict instructions to the officials to

immediately make the 'Early Warning System' effective for disaster prevention

and to work with mutual coordination. “The integrated use of drone-based search

and rescue operations is a necessity in today's requirements. Uttar Pradesh,

the first state in the country, has taken the step of providing relief to

people by categorizing human-wildlife conflict under the disaster category. Informing

people about the precautions to be taken regarding disasters is also a very

great service to the country. In the recruitment of Home Guards, we will give priority

to 'Disaster Friends'. Home Guards will also be mandatorily provided with

'Disaster Friend' training. Vigilance, preparation, and awareness towards disasters

should be a part of our daily life, he stated.

“Today, the inauguration of the new headquarters building of

the Uttar Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority, constructed at a cost

exceeding Rs. 200 crore in Lucknow, was held.

On this occasion, the launch of the authority's website and

the honoring of eight personnel from SDRF, PAC, and the Fire Service for their

commendable work in relief and rescue operations during disasters also took

place. We must make Uttar Pradesh such an empowered state where every citizen

is fully prepared, alongside the government, to fulfill their responsibilities

in any hour of crisis. Heartfelt congratulations to the residents of the state,”

UP CM mentioned in a post on X. Cabinet Minister Suresh Khanna and Mayor Sushma

Kharwal along with many other leaders were also present on this occasion.
