Kamrup (Assam), 19 July (HS): An eight-year-old boy, who had been missing for the past nine days from Rangia, was allegedly kidnapped and murdered by Rafikul Ali, a man known for collecting discarded plastic water bottles, police said.

The child's mother had been desperately searching every lane and locality of Rangia in the hope of finding her son since he went missing.

The 8-year-old boy kidnapped and murdered in Rangia is Chandran Talukdar. He went missing near the Rangia Railway Station. The mother Deepa Talukdar filed a complaint that led the Rangia Police to arrest the prime suspect, Rafiqul Ali, a tenant residing in the Udiana area.

Police have arrested Rafikul Ali, who is reportedly addicted to drugs, in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder. The Rangia police informed on Sunday that further investigation into the case is underway.----------
