New Delhi, 17 July (H.S.): Bharat Tex Trade Federation Chairman Narendra Goenka on Friday said India is fully prepared to emerge as a global leader in the textile industry by combining sustainability with advanced technology. He said the country has demonstrated its capability to lead the future of environmentally responsible and technology-driven textiles on the global stage.

Speaking at the concluding dialogue session of the four-day Bharat Tex 2026 exhibition at Bharat Mandapam, Narendra Goenka said the event not only strengthened global business partnerships but also firmly established India's growing leadership in sustainable and technology-driven textiles.

Bharat Tex 2026 has demonstrated to the world that India possesses the capability to lead the future of sustainable and technology-driven textiles, he said.

The four-day event was held from July 14 to July 17.

Addressing the media, Narendra Goenka said this year's edition of Bharat Tex further reinforced India's position as one of the world's leading destinations for textiles and apparel. The event attracted more than 115,000 visitors, including over 11,000 buyers. Nearly 6,000 of those buyers came from international markets, representing 138 countries.

He said the exhibition featured 1,617 exhibitors, nearly 70 percent of whom were micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), highlighting the strength and diversity of India's manufacturing ecosystem.

During the four-day event, more than 28,500 pre-confirmed business-to-business (B2B) meetings were held between buyers and exhibitors through the event's digital platform. In addition, Bharat Tex hosted over 100 government-to-government (G2G) and business-to-government (B2G) meetings.

Narendra Goenka further said Bharat Tex 2026 attracted investment proposals worth nearly Rs 14,300 crore, underscoring that the event has evolved beyond promotional commitments into a platform delivering tangible economic outcomes.

He added that the strong participation, international engagement and investment interest reflected growing global confidence in India's textile sector and its long-term growth potential.
