New Delhi, 15 July (H.S.): The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted bail to Satpal Singh Chhabra, an accused in the Chhattisgarh District Mineral Foundation (DMF) scam. A Bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant observed that several co-accused in the case, including the principal accused and former IAS officer Anil Tuteja, had already been granted bail.

The Court noted that Anil Tuteja was granted bail on May 18. The alleged DMF scam pertains to the misappropriation of funds meant for the welfare of local communities affected by mining activities.

The Bench directed Satpal Singh Chhabra to appear before the trial court and comply with all the conditions of his bail.

Chhabra has been accused of accepting a bribe of Rs 5 crore in connection with the award of contracts under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) scheme.
