President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the three-day international seminar, Saushrutam 2026, at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi on Wednesday. Organised by the Ministry of AYUSH, the seminar will be held from July 15 to 17, while a pre-conference workshop is scheduled for July 14.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, the event is being organised to commemorate the birth anniversary of Acharya Sushruta, widely regarded as the Father of Surgery. The seminar will bring together leading experts from India and abroad to deliberate on the integration of Ayurveda with modern surgical science.

During the inaugural session, the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) will release a national study titled Assessment of the Professional Careers of Women Ayurveda Graduates. The event will also witness the inauguration of a state-of-the-art 3-Tesla high-field MRI system, established at a cost of ₹14.5 crore. The advanced imaging facility is equipped with AI-enabled workflow, biometric integration, and cutting-edge diagnostic imaging capabilities.

The three-day seminar will feature keynote lectures, panel discussions, workshops, and scientific paper presentations. Special sessions will focus on colorectal diseases, reconstructive surgery, integrative oncology, medico-legal issues, and intellectual property in surgery. Deliberations will also cover Acharya Sushruta's pioneering surgical principles, including wound management, Agnikarma, Ksharasutra therapy, and Marma therapy.

The international event will bring together renowned surgeons, academicians, and researchers from Thailand, Israel, Austria, the United Kingdom, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Nepal, Greece, and India.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH Prataprao Jadhav, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Tarunjit Singh Sandhu, Member of Parliament Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, and Ministry of AYUSH Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha will also attend the inaugural ceremony.
