Guwahati, 13 July (HS): The inaugural player auction of the Assam Premier League (APL) will be held on July 19 at the 91 Yards Club, ACA Stadium in Guwahati, with 275 cricketers from across the state set to be drafted by eight franchises ahead of the league's first season.

Ahead of the auction, Assam Cricket Association (ACA) President Taranga Gogoi said the event marks a historic moment for cricket in the state. He said players from every district have registered for the league and will soon know which franchise they will represent. He added that Assam has waited a long time for a cricket platform of its own and expressed confidence that the inaugural season would become a memorable one for players and fans alike.

The marquee list features 20 leading cricketers, including Denish Das, Sibsankar Roy, Sumit Kashyap, Swarupam Purkayastha, Jitumoni Kalita, Mrinmoy Dutta, Muktar Hussain, Avinav Choudhary, Rahul Singh, Sadak Hussain and Bhargab Pratim Lakhar. Other notable names include Saahil Jain, Pradyun Saikia, Saurav Mousum Dihingia, Abdul Ajij Kuraishi, Akash Sengupta, Ayushman Malakar, Sumit Ghadigaonkar, Rohit Sen and Ruhinandan Pegu.

All 20 marquee players have represented Assam in BCCI tournaments and are expected to attract strong bids as the franchises assemble their squads. The inaugural edition of the Assam Premier League is scheduled to begin on August 1, 2026.-----------
