New Delhi, 12 July (H.S.): The Central Government will organise a National Conference on NextGen Administrative and E-Governance Reforms in Shillong from July 13 to 14. The inaugural session will be addressed by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Personnel Dr. Jitendra Singh and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma.

According to the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, the conference is being organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) in collaboration with the Government of Meghalaya. More than 30 speakers, including senior government officials, district collectors and governance experts, will share their award-winning initiatives and innovative administrative experiences.

The conference aims to deliberate on next-generation administrative reforms, digital governance and citizen-centric public service delivery. DARPG Secretary Nivedita Shukla Verma and Meghalaya Chief Secretary Dr. Shakil P. Ahammed will also address the inaugural session. More than 300 participants, including senior officials from the Central and State Governments, policymakers, academicians and governance experts, are expected to attend.

The two-day conference will showcase Prime Minister's Award-winning initiatives for 2023 and 2024, National e-Governance Award-winning projects, best practices of the Government of Meghalaya and DARPG collaborative initiatives from the North-Eastern region. Discussions will cover district-level holistic development, digital governance, cybersecurity, healthcare, education, consumer protection, banking, urban and rural administration, and technology-driven governance.

The conference will begin with a special session highlighting the Government of Meghalaya's best practices, featuring the state's innovative governance initiatives and citizen-centric reforms. This will be followed by sessions on Prime Minister's Award-winning initiatives and projects recognised under the National e-Governance Awards.

A dedicated session on the development of the North-Eastern region will focus on bamboo and agarwood value chains, tourism, regional infrastructure, project monitoring and inter-state collaboration. The conference will also showcase DARPG collaborative initiatives undertaken in Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland.
