
Guwahati, 11 July (HS): Continuing its intensified crackdown on drug trafficking, Guwahati Police arrested three alleged drug peddlers in separate anti-narcotics operations across the city and seized suspected heroin, brown sugar, vehicles and mobile phones.
In the first operation, a team from Fatasil Ambari Police Station arrested an alleged drug peddler near Ambari Tiniali based on specific intelligence. The accused, identified as Raja Prasad Shah of Katabari, Guwahati, was found in possession of 11.75 grams of suspected heroin and a mobile phone. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
In another operation, police apprehended a suspected drug peddler with 9 grams of suspected heroin. During the raid, officers also seized a scooter and a mobile phone believed to have been used in drug trafficking activities. The investigation is in progress.
Meanwhile, a team from Satgaon Police Station arrested Shubham Sonar during an anti-drug operation in the Panjabari area. Police recovered six vials containing 7.7 grams of suspected brown sugar from his possession. The accused has been taken into custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated.
Police said efforts are underway to trace the source of the seized narcotics and identify links to larger drug trafficking networks. The arrests form part of the Assam Government's ongoing anti-drug campaign and Guwahati Police's sustained drive against the illegal narcotics trade across the city.----------
