Temple with family and thousands of supporters
People will arrive in large numbers from nearby districts
and various areas
Prayagraj, 11 July (HS): Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Nand
Gopal Gupta 'Nandi' commemorates July 12 as his Punar-prapt
Janmotsav (rebirthday). This anniversary commemorates his survival from a
life-threatening RDX bomb assault in Prayagraj in 2010. His true birth date is
April 23, 1974. On July 12, 2010, the minister escaped a fatal
remote-controlled bomb assault in Prayagraj, which resulted in significant
injuries. Because he views his recovery to be a second chance at life, he
celebrates the day with large religious and social activities, including blood donation
drives and a huge 'Maharudra Abhishek' at the Manokamana Purti Temple.
It was 16 years ago, on July 12, 2010. Nand Gopal Gupta
Nandi, UP cabinet minister, was attacked with a remote-controlled RDX bomb in
Bahadurganj. A security guard and a journalist were killed. Minister Nandi was
seriously injured in the bomb blast. He recovered after four months of
continuous treatment, aided by the love and blessings of thousands of
supporters and admirers. Since then, Minister Nandi has celebrated his Punar-prapt
Janmotsav every year on July 12.
Like every year, this time too Minister Nandi will celebrate
his Punar-prapt Janmotsav on July 12 with his family, thousands of supporters
and workers. On July 12th, at 11:00 a.m., Minister Nandi will perform
Rudrabhishek and distribute Prasad at the ancient Manokamna Purti Temple in
Bahadurganj. Thousands of people from the city, as well as from across the
Ganga, Yamuna, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, and various districts will participate.
There is unwavering faith in the wish-fulfilling temple: It's
worth noting that on July 12, 2010, Nandi was struck by a bomb in front of this
very temple in Bahadurganj (where the Rudrabhishek ceremony took place). He was
seriously injured. He recovered after prolonged treatment. Minister Nandi
believes that if he has reached this position and is still alive today, it is
because of this temple. He has unwavering faith in this temple and Lord Shiva.
The minister said that since then, he has celebrated his recovered
birthday every year on July 12.
The life of Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, MLA from the Prayagraj
City South Assembly constituency and Cabinet Minister, was full of challenges
from the very beginning. Born on April 23, 1974, in the Bahadurganj
neighborhood of Allahabad, Nandi's father, Suresh Chandra, was a Class IV
employee in the postal department. His mother, Vimala Devi, worked as a
homemaker. Due to the family's poor financial situation, Nandi could only study
until his intermediate level. As a child, he would run a firecracker and colour
shop. When his house was the first in the neighborhood to have a television, he
even showed the Mahabharata to the children for fifty paise. As his financial
situation improved, he opened a sweet shop in 1992. He then purchased a truck,
then a ghee and medicine agency. In 1994, he started a brick kiln business with
a relative. Once financially stable, he formed the Nandi Group of Companies.
Political journey begins: In 2007, Nandi, who entered
politics with the BSP, won the election from City South. He defeated the BJP's
powerful leader Keshari Nath Tripathi and Congress's Rita Bahuguna Joshi. As a
reward, BSP supremo Mayawati gave him the status of a cabinet minister. He was
admitted to Hospital for four months after the fatal attack on 12 July 2010.
In the 2012 elections, Nandi was defeated by SP candidate
Haji Parvez Ahmed by 414 votes.
After this, his wife Abhilasha Gupta was elected mayor in
the municipal corporation elections held in 2012 and re-elected in 2017 as
well. He joined BJP in the 2017 assembly elections and once again secured the
post of Cabinet Minister by defeating SP MLA Parvez Ahmed Tanki. In 2022, he
again won the election from Prayagraj City South Assembly constituency and
became MLA and Cabinet Minister.
