
Pune, 11 July (HS): Out of the eight people buried under
the heap of garbage in Moshi Garbage Depot in Pune, three were rescued alive
after about 70 hours. The rescue operation is still in progress. The machinery
of National Disaster Response Force, Fire Brigade and Pimpri-Chinchwad
Municipal Corporation
Adequate care is being taken to prevent any injury to
those buried under the garbage. The rescue operation is going on unstopped for
over 70 hours. The operation is expected to be over by Saturday night.
The heap of garbage in Moshi Garbage Depot collapsed
over a government building. 23 to 24 workers were present in the building. Five
of them succeeded in immediately come out of the building that collapsed. Nine people
were rescued, while one of them died. Three more were rescued on Saturday.
Eight others are feared still under the debris.
The garbage was stored under the ‘Waste to Energy’
scheme.
