
Guwahati, 10 July (HS): Assam Police seized 30,000 Yaba tablets valued at around ₹3 crore during a major anti-drug operation in Sribhumi district, leading to the arrest of three alleged drug traffickers.
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma hailed the operation and congratulated the Sribhumi Police for intercepting the narcotics consignment before it reached its destination. Sharing details on X, he remarked, Every consignment has a destination and this one ended up at the police station, while applauding the force for its successful action.
The Chief Minister said the seizure reflects Assam Police's unwavering commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and reiterated the state government's resolve to intensify its campaign against narcotics under its mission to build a drug-free Assam.
Police officials said an investigation has been launched to trace the origin of the seized Yaba tablets and identify the supply chain. Efforts are also underway to track down other individuals linked to the trafficking network.---------
