Guwahati, 01 July (HS): BJP spokesperson Dr. Devajit Mahanta on Wednesday said the Centre has allocated ₹95,692.31 crore for the newly renamed Viksit Bharat Grameen Rozgar Ashwasan Mission (VBG-RAM-J), replacing MGNREGA, with Assam set to receive ₹1,929.70 crore.

He said the Assam Government will additionally provide ₹2,000 crore to ensure ₹1 crore per panchayat annually for rural infrastructure and employment. The scheme guarantees 125 days of work at ₹300 per day, up from the earlier 100 days under MGNREGA.

Mahanta said the revamped scheme aims to strengthen rural livelihoods, improve infrastructure, enhance transparency through GPS and AI-based monitoring and prevent misuse of funds while supporting the goal of a developed rural India by 2047.-----------
