Bhubaneswar, 01 July (H.S.): Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday unveiled two books documenting the two-year constitutional and legislative journey of Odisha Legislative Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, while also inaugurating a modern physiotherapy centre at the Assembly premises.

The books, titled Presiding with Purpose: Two Years Legislative Journey of Speaker Surama Padhy and Two Years of Transformative Leadership Under Speaker Surama Padhy, highlight the Speaker's leadership and contributions to strengthening the functioning of the Odisha Legislative Assembly over the past two years.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated a state-of-the-art physiotherapy centre established by the Health and Family Welfare Department within the Assembly complex. The facility has been set up to provide physiotherapy and rehabilitation services to serving and former legislators, their family members, and employees of the Odisha Legislative Assembly. The centre is expected to particularly benefit senior legislators.

In a post on X, Majhi lauded Speaker Surama Padhy's leadership, stating that her efforts in successfully digitising the legislative process while upholding the dignity, traditions and democratic values of the Assembly have been highly commendable.

He said the two publications would not only preserve the record of the Assembly's progressive journey but would also serve as valuable reference material for researchers, scholars, policymakers and the younger generation.

Describing the physiotherapy centre as a significant welfare initiative, the Chief Minister congratulated the Odisha Legislative Assembly Secretariat and its Research Wing for their efforts in bringing out the publications and establishing the healthcare facility.

The event was attended by Speaker Surama Padhy, legislators, senior government officials and Assembly Secretariat officers.
