New Delhi, June 5 (H.S.): The Central Government has invited nominations and recommendations for the 2027 Padma Awards. The last date for submitting online nominations has been fixed as July 31.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the nomination process for the Padma Awards, which are announced annually on the eve of Republic Day, commenced on March 15. Nominations and recommendations will be accepted exclusively through the National Awards Portal in online mode.
The Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri are among India’s highest civilian honours. Instituted in 1954, these awards are conferred in recognition of exceptional and distinguished contributions across a wide range of fields, including art, literature and education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, trade, and industry.
The government stated that it remains committed to developing the Padma Awards as “People’s Padma” honours. In line with this objective, citizens have been encouraged to nominate themselves or recommend deserving individuals for consideration.
The government has made a special appeal to identify and nominate deserving women, members of weaker sections of society, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, persons with disabilities, and individuals who have rendered selfless service to society with exceptional dedication and merit.
According to the Ministry, every nomination must include a clear and detailed account of the nominee’s achievements and distinguished service in the prescribed format. Comprehensive information regarding the Padma Awards is available through the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Padma Awards Portal.
